In 1883, a union resolution in the United States of America declared the first Monday in September of each year a day off for workers. It's easy to see how such an idea could catch on quickly. This Labor Day, the Sagittarius moon mists the atmosphere with wild, adventurous ideas about making the most of our free time.
ARIES (March 21-April 19). You are able to sell someone on an idea for no other reason except that it's what you're doing and the other person wants to be like you. It's nice to be admired.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20). You'll be invited somewhere new, and you'll approach this strange territory with a sense of wonder. You'll be impressed by your experience and come back time and again.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You will be keenly aware of another person's existence and could even be visited by him or her in a dream tonight. Because of this person's influence, you'll be fascinated with what you once thought to be a bland fact.
CANCER (June 22-July 22). It's like your room is a museum of your life and you are the curator. You will note what the elements say about you — especially if some of them are in disarray.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Like a circus juggler, you are doing your best to keep all of the balls in the air while making it look as though it is effortless. Unlike a circus juggler, you won't get fired if you consistently drop a few balls.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). It takes vision to make your ideas happen regardless of your ability to profit from them. You will be challenged by those who don't want to move forward unless they can make money doing so.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). You'll do a good job of hiding your emotions today. Of course, you would rather be able to express every feeling that flickers across your heart, though it is not always practical or wise to do so.
SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). You'll object to anything obviously second-rate, though you'll also consider the source. You are strangely moved by the sincerity of those who are trying to deliver but don't yet possess the skills to do so.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). In some ways, you feel like you're a one-person show. You fulfill many different roles in a day, and then at the end of the day, there is only one of you to take a bow during the curtain call.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You forge a better connection with someone you love. This is very different from melding in a co-dependent way. You realize your differences and help each other without creating a total reliance on that help.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). There's no reason you should settle for being the sole responsible person in your group. Expect others to do their part. Today this applies to cleaning, feeding and financing.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). It takes courage to run your personal life and business. The obstacles may be small — more like irritants than obstacles, really — but it is no small accomplishment to overcome frustration and rise to the level of grace.
TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Sept. 5). With nothing to prove, you'll move with what moves you and be very successful in the process. In the next 10 weeks, you will be called by the energy of a place, and you'll follow your heart to the opportunities available there. Loved ones make you proud in November. New relationships happen this month and in May. Cancer and Leo people adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 49, 1, 24, 3 and 15.
ASTROLOGICAL QUESTIONS: "I'm a 50-year-old divorcee, and I have been Internet dating for two years now. I've met many interesting people and have gone on more than 100 dates — some more memorable than others. I'm not trying to meet anyone and settle down; I just enjoy being out and doing things other than work. I recently encountered a man who said he was a tasseographer. I didn't know what that was, so he took my empty wine glass, looked into it and told me my "fortune," which included my getting married. I really don't want this to be true. The man had a mystical sense about him, and I got spooked by this random message. How accurate do you think this method of fortunetelling really is?"
Tasseography is a method of fortunetelling that uses a cup and the sediments of a drink such as tea, coffee or wine. I would be curious as to whether there was actually wine sediment in your glass or not. Perhaps the man was only flirting with you. Sediment or no, when it comes to fortunetelling, the accuracy of the prediction may depend more on the fortuneteller than the method.
CELEBRITY PROFILES: In the spirit of typical Virgo perfectionism, Adam Sandler writes and produces many of his own movies and in doing so has developed a style all his own. Perhaps not so typical is the amount of Virgo energy Sandler has flowing through his natal chart. His sun, Mercury, Venus, Uranus and Pluto are all in this diligent, analytical sign. Sandler's career-oriented Mars is in Leo, the sign of entertainment.
