When you live in a system where you know there will be delays, you adapt. I'm sure you will admit there is a different "energy" in European countries, including the British Isles. Unlike American's, they know to set appointments for health care long in advance, and because they are hard to get, rarely do you break an appointment, you know you'll wait another month or two if you do. This develops good habits in people, they don't delay their healthcare as do many uninsured here in the States. We delay because they don't have the money to see a doctor or get prescriptions, then end up in the ER expecting immediate attention. Socialized medicine is indeed, flawed. Our system is flawed. Without money or insurance, you're going to the county hospital and you will wait and they will try everything they can to get whatever money you do have, be it $5 or $50, the food money out of your kid's mouths. You will be shamed to give them whatever you have. I'll take the system that offers me healthcare without checking my bank account first, thank you. Warts and all. If I have to wait, so be it.
