by Matthew Margolis

"I recently read your answer to a woman whose husband had a pit bull that didn't get along with their Shar Pei. I now have three pit bulls, all rescues, and while it's not a breed I really wanted, these are some of the most awesome, smart and gentle dogs I have ever owned. Thank you, Uncle Matty, for speaking up for an American icon. Seems like in every decade the press “picks” on a different breed. “In the '70s they blamed Dobermans, in the '80s they blamed German shepherds, in the '90s they blamed the Rottweiler. Now they blame the pit bull." - Cesar Millan Anybody who has taken the trouble to work with pit bulls has found them responsive, smart, eager to please, tough, affectionate to humans (sometimes to a fault), with a terrific sense of humor, and will do exactly what they are trained to do, IF they are trained. I trained mine because I promised myself that I should have no dog until I can spend the time and money to have him/her trained properly. Exactly like undisciplined and obnoxious kids, an untrained dog that jumps on people and is unpredictable (read: out of control) is unlikable and a general pain in the toches. I am convinced once somebody has had an ABPT for a pet or companion, no other breed will ever do. Andrew http://andrew-rozsa.blogspot.com/
